The Act
Convinced her boyfriend was cheating, a Reddit user spent weeks stalking a stranger on Instagram — and became certain he was the other man. She posted a public callout naming him, photo included, meant to "warn other women."
The Price
It was the wrong guy. Same first name, different person. Her post spread in the worst way, the innocent man lost work over the accusation, and she faced a defamation threat from his lawyer. She deleted the post, but screenshots live forever. Her relationship didn't survive the fallout either.
The Lesson
A screenshot is not an investigation. Accusing publicly what you haven't verified privately is how you become the villain of your own story. Jealousy plus a publish button is a defamation lawsuit waiting to happen.
FAFO Index
9/10 — she set out to expose a cheater and exposed herself instead.
Bottom Line
Verify before you vilify.
