The Act
Visitors at Yellowstone kept walking right up to wild bison for selfies — close enough to touch. All summer, rangers watched tourists treat 2,000-pound wild animals like photo props, ignoring every posted warning. Some even posed their children next to the herd for the shot.
The Price
Bison can sprint 35 mph and toss a person like a rag doll. That season, several tourists were gored — broken ribs, punctured lungs, medevac flights. The National Park Service responded with blunt warnings, fines, and a permanent spot on the "touron" hall of shame.
The Lesson
Wildlife is not a backdrop. The 25-yard rule exists because the animal doesn't know you're joking, and it doesn't do retakes. No photo is worth a hoof through your torso.
FAFO Index
10/10 — the bison didn't ask for any of this.
Bottom Line
If the animal can kill you, the selfie isn't worth it.
